Elizabeth and Victoria Building Lifts

Unfortunately on Sunday evening there was a power outage which came from the Electricity Substation at the side of Blakey Moor blowing.

The substation powers King George’s Hall, the Elizabeth and Victoria Buildings, the Harrison Centre, St Paul’s and STEMM buildings, subsequently these buildings are being run off a generator. As the generator is not a constant flow of electricity like mains power is, there can sometimes be fluctuations in the supply which in yesterday and today’s instances is causing the lifts particularly in the Elizabeth and Victoria Buildings to cut-out, which is an automatic safety feature. We will ask the lift company to come and reset the lift to get it back up and running however, this may happen on numerous occasions whilst we are still receiving power from the generator.

I have today been advised by Electricity North West Limited that they are anticipating their works to repair the substation will be completed by Friday afternoon (11 June 2021), at which the College buildings will be back on mains power.

Thank you for your understanding.
