Dear Students,

As part of national guidance, 16 and 17 year olds are now being encouraged to come forward and have their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Vaccination Bus

On Friday 10th September 2021 a Covid-19 vaccination bus will be visiting Blackburn College between 10-4pm. A further visit is planned on Thursday 16th September 2021.

No appointment is necessary. The bus will be based outside the Beacon Centre. You can simply attend and get your first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination.

You do not need to be registered with a GP or bring any ID other than your Blackburn College ID badge. It might help to bring your NHS number, if you know it, but this is not necessary.

Please note: If you've already had your 1st dose, you need to wait 8 weeks before having your 2nd dose.

Walk-in Vaccination Centres

Walk-in vaccinations are available for 16 and 17 year olds getting their first dose at the following sites. No appointment or booking is required.

  • Blackburn Cathedral, Blackburn – Monday to Sunday, 8:30am to 7:30pm
  • The Mall, Ainsworth Street, Blackburn – Monday and Tuesday, 8:30am to 7:30pm
  • Everest Pharmacy, Darwen – Saturday and Sunday, 10:00am to 2:00pm (subject to change –  call 01254 777230 for current times).
  • Ivy Street Community Centre, Blackburn – Friday to Sunday, 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Times and locations are subject to check, you should check online before attending.

Home Testing

Next week home-testing (also known as Lateral Flow Home Testing) kits are available for collection from the Beacon Centre reception and from the University Centre Students’ Union area.

Thank you for your support and we hope you are enjoying your first weeks at Blackburn College.
